Bergen

The Clarion Collection Hotel Havnekontoret

This hotel is worth writing home about. It is by far the most expensive on the journey. Norway is very expensive anyway, but Bergen is ridiculously costly for accommodation - they kind of have you over a barrel at this end of the world. Jim particularly wanted to stay here because it is the old harbour control building. It is decorated with lush tones of deep purple, leather couches, chandeliers - everything is so, so tasteful. We are very happy to be here for one night. Tomorrow we will look some more around Bergen, then join the Midnatsol for our voyage to the Arctic Circle.

Can you see me go green with envy?? I remember we took a lot of wine and spirits to Norway for our friends in Oslo. The Customs men on the train were very liberal and pretended they didnt see!! We must have looked desperate!!
Have a wonderful voyage!!
