A Travellerspoint blog

Hurtigruten

Monday

After a flat calm night, we berthed at Alesund. This is the city that began our Norway investigations as it is the home of Jim's company, Farstad. So we searched out their offices and Jim made himself known to a few of the staff members, plus a few picture opportunities.
Back on board, we sailed up the Geiranger Fjord and back, which took all day.

This is the most indescribable scenery you could imagine - we will upload photos soon, but even they cannot convey the magnitude of the area. From the fjord, the mountains rise some 1600m, with massive waterfalls and still some are snow covered. It was awe inspiring and you know that you will all be subjected to our many photos.
