Paris

I have always wanted to come to Paris and it has not let me down. There literally are sidewalk cafes everywhere, with the chairs all lined up to watch the passing parade (and be watched ...) We have seen all the usual suspects - the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, Sainte Chappelle, the Seine, Sacre Coeur, The Louvre, and were lucky enough to be here on Bastille Day to watch the fireworks. Us and a few million others, so finding a good viewing spot was a challenge, but getting home was an even bigger one. The metro was fortunately patrolled by many police, wall to wall people and a sardine squash into each train. An experience I'll be happy not to repeat. All worth it though.

It all sounds wonderous. I look forward to hearing about all the actual 'surprises' of these much imagined places. Your countdown is on for the homeward journey, so make the most of every minute - event the sardine subway squashes xx
